Happy 6th Birthday Christian!

Christian's birthday celebrations started at Einstein's for breakfast where a candle was put in his chocolate chip coffee cake.  Then at the end of the school day, I took ice cream for him and his classmates.  Before having ice cream, they all sat in a circle and gave Christian compliments. Many said he was a good friend, a scholar, a hard worker etc.  But my favorite was a little girl who said, "You are so cute.  I love you.  You are so precious."  This of course got some giggles and Christian turning quite red.  To which the same little girl yelled out, "Look his cheeks are turning red."  Christian said it was because he was laughing so hard that his cheeks were turning red.  The kids then started to give him hugs which turned into one big dog pile.

We went out that night for dinner at Sweet Tomatoes, one of Christian's favorite restaurants.  They have some of his favorite food; mac & cheese and ice cream.

Then that weekend, we had a party at the park with lots of friends.  Christian did not want a theme for his party, but it turned out to be the year of Star Wars.  He got Star Wars Hot Wheels, light sabers, a Star Wars book and a carrier to hold all his Star Wars Cars.  He also got some money, a remote control car, and Pokeman cards.

Other than getting taller and looking more mature, Christian hasn't changed much in the last year.  For the most part he is still a joy to be around.  But since starting kindergarten he can be really grumpy when he is woken up in the morning.  And he is probably getting a little more stubborn as he gets older.  He still loves to play with cars, trucks, and Legos.  He also LOVES to ride his bike.  He was a little wobbly on two wheels at the start of the school year, but now there is no stopping him.  And he still LOVES sugar.  There is no stopping him there either.  He is super smart and picks up things very quickly.  He makes friends easily and is a very good friend.  He is also a good son and we love him more than anything in the whole wide world!

Thanksgiving 2015

We had a quiet Thanksgiving this year with no one coming into town.  We ran the Turkey Trot in the morning; all the kids ran the 2 mile and then Chuck and I ran the 10K.  And we had dinner with just our family.

Christmas 2015

We had a quiet Christmas here in town.  Rich and Judy (Grandma Kitty and Papa) were visiting for the month of December.  It was the first time we have had Christmas with them since the younger three kids were born.  Lily came into town (from North Dakota) and we were able to spend a little time with her.  We also spent some time with Emma.  (She is living here).  Just before Christmas, Charity come to town and continued her annual tradition of taking the kids to look at lights.  We also continued our annual tradition of decorating "ginger" bread houses with the Hamblins and Hatchs. This year we hosted, so Jackson and Tessa also joined us.   We had a great time at our annual get together with the Woodwards at Main Event, where we bowled, played laser tag, defied gravity and ate.  We did not continue the tradition of pictures with Santa this year. We waited until the kids were out of school to go to Bass Pro Shop (where the pictures are free). But the line was too long; hours long.  And we did not want to go back.  Although it is arguable whether or not the kids made the "nice" list, Santa still paid them a visit.  They all received Kindle Fire's. However, Santa returned about a week later and took Cameron's back.  He was not happy with the restrictions put on him. Now maybe he will learn that restrictions are better than nothing.  Although the weather was cooler than normal, we enjoyed our Christmas break spending lots of time outside with friends and family.

We were down the street for our neighborhood Christmas Eve party and when it was time to leave, we could not find Christian.  We found him here.

15 Memories from 2015

Looking back at 2015...

One beautiful girl was baptized. (Hannah)
Two trips were taken (girls to Maui, boys to Cincinnati) and we survived two car crashes.
All three kids were in all day school. (Christian started Kindergarten)
Four camping/backpacking trips were taken.
Chuck spent five days backpacking with the boy scouts.
There was never less than six fights a day.
We read the New Testament in seven months.
Cameron raced in eight bicycle races.
The neighborhood gang grew to nine kids.
Our garage housed ten bikes.
Eleven was the average number of times we asked the kids to do something before they did it.
Cameron looked up football scores twelve times a day.
Chuck raced in thirteen bicycle races.
Rebekah taught fourteen group exercise classes each pay period.
And Hannah spent fifteen weeks sleeping on our floor.

We are thankful for the many opportunities and blessing that were provided to us in 2015!  We are especially thankful for our faith and our Savior, Jesus Christ, for his example, his sacrifice and his love for us.  We are looking forward to 2016!
