Christmas

We were excited to have Cameron home for Christmas.  We helped to Light the World by making a donation to benefit those in need.

We were excited to see Lily, Sylvan and Leon, who came over for a visit and gift exchange.
And to watch Elf.

We were excited to decorate ginger bread (graham cracker) houses with the Hamblins and Hatches.  Missing from the picture is Ryan, who was taking a little break in the house.

We were most excited to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ!

And lastly, we were excited that Charity came for a visit.  We went to the Botanical Gardens with her and Melody.  Chuck was at home as sick as he had ever been (he thought he was going to die).  And although it doesn't look like it, Christian was also as sick as he had ever been.  It was one of my parenting fails to allow him to have gone.  But it was a very cool event and he didn't die.

Thanksgiving (and more)

As per our tradition, we all raced the Turkey Trot the morning of Thanksgiving. Hannah, Chuck and I ran the 10K.  Hannah and Chuck ran together and finished in 51:39.  I ran it in 59:27 (I am just happy to get under an hour).  Cameron and Christian ran the 5K. They finished together with a time of 29:28.

We had dinner with Cameron, Emily and their families and per tradition, we didn't take any pictures.

The day after Thanksgiving, I made everyone go to the zoo and I made the kids take this picture just like in the old days.

Melissa, Hannah and I decided relatively late to run the McDowell Mountain Frenzy.  And because we decided relatively late to run, we only ran the 5 mile, which was still challenging.  Hannah of course crushed it.

Hannah Hot Springs

Chuck has done the backpacking trip to Hannah Hot Springs a couple of times.  The last time was a couple of years ago with Christian, Cameron and Carson Hamblin.  Although Hannah doesn't love backpacking, she had been wanting to do the Hannah Hot Springs trip.  So for Fall break, Chuck took her, her friend Paityn (who had never backpacked before) and Christian on the trip.  It is a very remote and difficult hike that includes lots of river rocks and a river crossing.  Chuck loves this hike.

Fall Sports

Hannah swam for Corona del Sol this year.  It was a very different experience than she had at Marcos de Nina.  There were about 60 kids on the team compared to a dozen.  She swam whatever she was asked to; 100M butterfly (one time only), freestyle and IM relay, 200 IM, 100 breaststroke.

Olga and Hannah

Christian ran cross country for the third year in a row. At the end of the season, he was invited to race in the Twilight Meet.

Christian also played baseball on the Tempe South Little League Juniors team.  He decided to play Juniors this year because he was not playing club and he didn't want to try out for the school team because he didn't like the coach.  His little league coach was Lucas Landreth, who is his best friend's, Noah, dad.  They didn't have a winning season (6-9) but Christian played great and had so much fun.  And as a bonus, one of his teammate's dad is a photographer.

*Because our kids are not future Olympians and we just want them to have fun and do their best, I didn't record any times or stats.
