This & That - Hannah edition

Mud Run

One of Hannah's Young Women leaders challenged the girls to read the Book of Mormon in about 4 months time and if they did, they would be rewarded with a trip to San Diego.  Hannah enjoys a good challenge, so she did it.  She wasn't sure about going to San Diego with the group, so I did the challenge with her.  We stayed at the Lawrence Welk Resort.  We had some great meals, walked around La Jolla, went to see The Body Guard musical and went to the San Diego temple.

A few days after turning 16, we went to get Hannah's driver's license.  She passed with flying colors.  The state of Arizona says she is ready to drive, but I am not so sure.

Happy Birthday Hannah and Chuck

It was a milestone birthday for Hannah.  Sweet 16! She had a week full of celebrating.  Throughout the week, she got a facial, pedicure and haircut.  We had lunch at Pita Jungle (I forgot to take a picture) and for family dinner we had home-made baked beans and potato salad per Hannah's request and ribs per Chuck's request.  They had a devil's food cake, infused with sweetened condensed milk and topped with cool whip, heath bars and caramel.

In addition to the facial, pedicure and haircut, Hannah got a necklace, nail polish, a Luke's Diner shirt (from Gilmore Girls) and a trifle baking dish.

At 16, Hannah is 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 108 pounds.  Hannah continues to excel at everything she does.  She is very motivated and driven.  She can often be found in her room painting (while watching Gilmore Girls for the third time) or reading.   During the school year she spent a lot of time doing Calculus, which paid off when she got a 5 on her AP exam.  She worked a little during the school year as a lifeguard.  She also coached swim team and taught swim lessons during the summer.  She likes to find healthy recipes on Pinterest and make them.  She practices her piano and works out daily.  Hannah also likes to help around the house.  She will often clean the kitchen without being asked.  Overall, Hannah is a great teenager.  She does get a little grumpy sometimes (usually when she is hungry) and does not get along well with her brothers but from what it sounds like, we have it easy with Hannah.  We love her and wouldn't trade her for anyone.

Marcos de Niza 2023 Graduate!

Congratulations Cameron!  We love you!

This & That - Cameron addition

Chuck's been sleeping in the shop in a hammock.  (He doesn't want to keep me up at night with his snoring).  Apparently you can't lie down in the hammock and not fall asleep.

Cameron played in the band all four years of high school.  He started out playing the flute in elementary school and switched to the horn in high school.

Cameron umpired for Tempe South Little League for his final year. (Unless he one day moves back to Tempe).  He umpired one game for the Juniors because it was played at Diablo Stadium, the spring training field for the Angels.

Cameron spent a lot of his money on Lego sets (world map, the Titanic, etc) and would set up in the middle of the living room and work on the sets a little bit at a time.

Cameron likes to learn new "skills" and fiddle with things so he decided he needed to buy a lock pick set and learn to pick locks.  He did pick the lock to the tennis courts in a community nearby.  But they very quickly changed the lock.  He was very close to turning 18, so I told him once he turned 18, he could no longer break into tennis courts or anywhere else for that matter.

Cameron and Carson try to get together when they can find the time.  Here they were rock climbing.

Cameron went to the prom with Brianna, a friend of Carson's date.  She was from Mesa High and they went to the Dobson High Prom (Carson's school).

Last day of high school!  Cameron rode his bike to high school on his first day, so he wanted to ride on his last day.  But do to poor behavior (fighting with his sister), he had been riding his bike to school a couple of days a week anyway.

Cameron entered a tennis tournament and played quite well.  He won his first match and lost his last two but was pleased with the way he played.
