First, I must preface this post. I really do love being a stay at home mom. I feel so blessed to be able to stay home with my children. I can't imagine it any other way. But...the days are so long. In fact, I feel like they never end! Last night, H got up 3 times. Thankfully, baby C only got up once. At 4:40am, I was just going to let H stay in our bed since I'd be getting up at 5:05am to go teach a class. But when I got up, she said she wanted to go back to her bed. So, I put her there. But at 5:15am when she heard me leave, she stood up in her bed and screamed while looking out the window. Good morning Chuck! When I got home, the kids watched about an hour of TV. We went outside to blow bubbles, we went for a walk around the block, we read for a long time. Then we went to swim lessons. BTW - C is swimming on his own and loving it! After swim lessons we met some friends at their neighborhood pool, swam some more and had a picnic. Surprisingly, I managed all 3 kids. It helps C is solo now, but H didn't get much swimming in. Now, it is only 2pm. Baby C is sleeping, C is watching a movie (ironically, he is watching Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer) and H is begging me to play with her. What are we going to do with the 5+hours left in the day?!

Garden Goodness
We've had another great year with our garden. Tons of tomatoes along with lettuce, zucchini, squash, bell peppers, chili peppers, cucumbers, beets, and pumpkins.
Solid Foods
Baby C is eating solid foods. He is still nursing well, and doesn't appear to need the extra calories, but I thought including him in meal time would make him a little happier and it also allows Chuck to have a part in feeding him. Believe it our not, our chubby whubby, loves solid food. He has had rice cereal, bananas, and carrots. And hasn't complained about any of them. And as you can see from the pictures, the whole family got involved.
Backpacking - Mt. Graham
Last week, Chuck took the four older kids on a 3 day, 2 night backpack trip to Mt. Graham. They had a great time. Although, I still had Christian, it was a nice break for me. I only had to get up once a night, and I got to take a nap. I had lunch with friends, cleaned up and cleaned out, and most importantly finished Lily's scrapbook, which was my number one goal!

The Unpredictable Nights
Christian slept thru the night last night! He slept from about 8pm until 6am. I went to bed about 9:30pm, but I did not get to sleep until 6am. H woke me up around 10:30pm, then about 11pm and once more about 11:30pm. After that, my boobs woke me up before 5am. They were ready for a baby to eat! The previous night, I had to wake baby C up at 4:30am because I was in so much pain. However, the two nights before that, he woke up at 11pm and again around 11:30pm. But prior to that for several nights, he was getting up sometime after 2am, eating and going back to sleep. H was up also during those nights, but it wasn't until just before baby C or after, so I was getting some nice continuous hours there. I just never know what the night will bring! However, for the past several weeks, big C has not gotten up. After 5 years, is he finally sleeping thru the night???

Sleeping and Running
I'm not doing enough of either! But especially sleeping. For a brief period (a week or so) baby C was only getting up once a night and not usually until after 2am. C and H were staying in their beds, so I was actually starting to feel normal. But Baby C is back to getting up twice a night. I have no idea why. He certainly doesn't need the calories! And H has become a regular and frequent night visitor of mine, sometimes as much as every two hours. I'm not sure why she gets up, but she wakes up screaming. I had a friend tell me she can't believe I still am able to exercise as much as I do when I am getting so little sleep. But what are my choices? Be fat(ter), out of shape and emotionally unstable. Not only does my body need the workouts my mind does too! It's been some time, but I was finally able to get my mileage back up to 20+ miles a week. I had to give up a day of running so I could teach a step class in the early morning hours which makes it hard to run as much as I would like. A couple weeks ago, I was able to run 7 miles (my longest in a very long time) and I made it up to South Mountain to trail run. I've been feeling really good and I am regaining my speed, but now it is getting really hot making it a challenge to run hard or long.
I love to take pictures of my kids sleeping. The are so adorable when they are asleep! C has decided to sleep without a shirt, and as you can see, H has followed suit. She also still needs a nap, but I don't force them. However, when she does fall asleep on the couch in the late afternoon, she doesn't put up a fight going to bed.
