Cameron - number 22

Just as soon as tackle football was over, 7 on 7 football started.  The 7 on 7 football only practiced once a week, which was a lighter practice schedule than with tackle, but we still had to drive just as far if not further for the games.  Before 7 on 7 ended, school baseball started.  Thankfully practice was after school and the season was relatively short.  Not just because they lost in the playoffs, but because the school season is always short.  In fact, school baseball started and ended before 7 on 7 was over.  And before school baseball ended, Little League started. Thankfully 7 on 7 and school baseball ended before HS football workouts started.  Whew!  Chuck and I are exhausted but we'd rather that than have Cameron rolling around on the floor moaning because he has nothing to do.  He LOVES to be busy and we NEED him to be kept busy.

Spartan Kids Race 2019

We are Spartan!

Hannah and Christian raced in the 1 mile event and raced it together finishing in a time of 20:53.  Cameron opted out of the race this year.

Christian

Christian has been busy!  He joined the Rubix Cube team at his school and competed with them in two competitions.  Between the first and second competition, he learned to solve the cube!  He got a speed cube for Christmas which inspired Cameron to re-discover the cube.  Once when Christian was getting frustrated with the cube, I reminded him that it took Cameron some time to learn to solve the cube and he said, "But he went through a lot of different emotions!"  How true it is.   Both of them went through a lot of different emotions while working with the cube.

He recently earned his Wolf Award in Cub Scouts, went hiking with his den and had a blast shooting BB guns at one of the leader's house.

He also participated in his first Cavalcade of Music.  He practiced hard and got to share a piano with his buddy from church, Joey.

Late Entry - Summer Backpacking 2018

The summer backpacking trip of 2018 took place in the La Garita Wilderness in Colorado, near Creede.  Backpackers included Chuck, Cameron, Hannah, Christian, Tim Woodward, Derek Hatch, Tim Royalty, Emmett, Nash, Lily, Billy and Zander (the dog).  They hiked the stock driveway (what was once used to drive the livestock from low country to high county).  The terrain was very rugged and the trail not well defined.  Water was scarce and so were people.  In the 7 days/six nights they hiked, they saw not one other person.  Everyone came out alive but several people lost their sense of humor and adventure about the trail.

Happy 9th Birthday Christian!

I can't believe our baby is 9!  When I told Christian that, he said, "No matter how old I am, I'll always be your baby."  Christian turned 9 on January 13th.  For his birthday party (which I threw together because I couldn't think about it until after Christmas), he invited several friends to come over to play first then go to Xtreme Air. We had dinner from the Panda Express (he still loves orange chicken) with red velvet cake and vanilla ice cream for dessert.  Christian has been asking for a suit for some time.  While I was out Christmas shopping, I found one.  So, after Christmas we went shopping and bought him a suit.  It cost more than I would have liked to have spent, so I told him it had to be his birthday present.  He was quite happy with that.

Hannah, Archer, Dominic, Christian, Benson, Jake, and Davis

As Christian gets older and bigger, he also gets more handsome, smarter and more talented.   He loves math and has quite the extensive vocabulary for a 9 year old.  He reads a little on his own, but prefers to be read to.  His teachers speak very highly of him.  He loves to watch TV and play games on the computer.  But he will still get caught up in imaginary play with Legos or cars.  He is excelling on the piano and even practices without complaining.  He doesn't always wake up in the best mood, but almost never gives us a hard time about going to bed.  Like all kids, he prefers to get his way and won't hesitate to throw a fit when he doesn't.  But overall Christian is an easy going, helpful kid and we love him!  At 9 he is 4 feet 4 inches and 64 pounds.
