Birthday Post #6...last one

Happy 3rd Birthday Hannah! Happy 46th Birtday Chuck!
We love you!
For Chuck and H's birthdays, we went to our favorite restaruant, Spinatos for lunch on Saturday. Then on Sunday, we opened gifts and had cake. Chuck requested German Chocolate. The kids did not care for the icing though. Hannah got her first Barbie from my mom. It was a biking barbie (bicycle, not motor bike). She loves it (and C too). One of the first things she said was "I want to see her boobies." You can't help but laugh! Chuck got a lot of chocolate and a new step stool for the garage. But his main present was a new backpack. He is very proud of the fact that it is the biggest backpack made. He calls it a beast!
Well, the celebrations are over for a while. It's been a fun month!

Congratulations Lily!

Lily has graduated from Tempe Preparatory Academy! She is headed to Northern Arizona University in the Fall. Lily's transition from Desert Marigold (k-8) to high school was an interesting time in our lives to say the least. But we are so happy she settled on and in TPA and will be furthering her education at NAU. We are so proud of her and know that she will love college.

the kids were quite well behaved during the graduation...C took pictures of himself

and H stood around in her dancing shoes.
The dancing shoes don't usually get to leave the house, but they made it to the car and she wanted to wear them. We didn't need a fit before we went in, because honestly, with it being late, she may have never settled down. So, I conceded and as we were walking in, a lady said, "I love your shoes." I asked H if she could say thank you, and she said, "Well, I'm not going to be her best friend."

Nice Goose Egg

I took all 3 kids to Christian's 4 month check up. They were really good. We stopped by a book store and the employee told me how well behaved my kids are (that has never happened). Since they were being so good, we stopped at one of our favorite restaurants, Firehouse Subs. It was a nice day and it gets really crowded at lunch time, so we sat outside. I had taken the sit-n-stand stroller with baby C in his car seat. The kids were being so good and eating so well, until H decided she was a baby and got up in the baby's car seat. I told he I didn't want her up there and she wasn't a baby etc. But I didn't force her to get out. She then turned around in the car seat and before I had a chance to tell her she was going to fall, she fell. And she fell hard. She didn't pass out or throw up, so I didn't take her to urgent care. She refused ice and tylenol. We came home and she took a nap and by the end of the night was acting pretty normal. I'm glad she is okay, but I was so mad at her for needing to pretend to be a baby and at myself for not forcing her to get down. She would have thrown such a fit, we would have just had to leave and C wasn't quite done. But I guess sometimes the fit is worth it. I'm not sure she knew I was primarily taking a picture of her goose egg because she was more than happy to pose.

Happy Apple Graduation

Cameron graduated from preschool! He is moving on to kindergarden and I am counting the days! The kids performed "The Ginger Bread Boy" at their graduation. I really couldn't hear anything, but they were cute. They received a graduation trophy and diploma.

A Good Day...

Tuesday night was a bad night. Between the kids and Chuck getting up early, I was up 5-6 times. So, I was prepared for a hard day. However, I was surprisingly wrong. Chuck left early to go for a group ride, so I took the kids to Wildflower for breakfast. We walked there and they shared pancakes with no fighting or fit throwing. We stopped by Trader Joes's on the way home and again there was not one fit or fight. It was actually a very pleasant time. When we got home, C laid down on the couch and H proceeds to pull him off, which led to tears (I swear these kids cry when someone so much as looks at them wrong). She said she was sorry without being prompted and then I told her she needed to go to time out. And she says, "but I said I was sorry". C got off to school then H, baby C and I went to the Y so I could teach a class. Of course, we were running late and on the way in H falls and, you guessed it, starts to cry. And cry and cry. Now I am really late and I can't get her calmed down, so I take her to class. She sat in a chair for half the class until we took a break and she was ready to go to the child care. We got C from school, and when he got home, he laid on the couch and H again, tried to pull him off. I told her not to and she said, "but I'll say I'm sorry." Kids! Noah came over and the kids played great and left me alone all afternoon. Then Charity came over and played with them. We had dinner, the kids got ready for bed and I went to teach another class. C and H went to bed great, however, baby C doesn't like to go to bed when I'm not home. But that was Chuck's problem. So, overall, we had a good day. I feel like I need to blog about the good days because I'm always blogging about the hard ones.

Hannah and Hello Kitty

Last Saturday, Charity and Kwan wanted to take H to the mall for Hello Kitty's birthday. She got to take her picture with Hello Kitty and get her face painted. Charity and Kwan bought her a purple, glittery pen. They brought H home while I was out and when I got back, H was outside with her dad. She runs up to me and says, "Mom, you are going to be so mad. Come inside. Look at your nursing pillow. I want to be right by your side." She proceeds to show me my nursing pillow, which she had taken her new pen to. She also took her new pen to her arms, legs and nose. What a stink! And if you ask her, what you color on, she will say, "only on paper". How can I be mad at someone so cute!

Birthday Post #5

It's a party!
I had a small, joint party for C and H on Saturday. We had friends come to the park to play and eat cupcakes. It was simple and fun!

Hannah didn't really like being the center of attention.

shown here are Jackson (our neighbor), Connor, Carson and Morgan
also in attendance were: Kennedy and Leo, Lizzy, Natalie, Moss and Maura

Christian at 4 months

Christian turned 4 months on the 13th. This kid is growing like a weed! He is by far our chubbiest baby. He is weighing in at a 16lbs 13ounces (85%) and is 25 and 3/4 inches (80%). He is a pro at rolling over. He wants to grab everything and put it in his mouth, but he lacks the skill, so he gets frustrated a lot. With the exception of last night, the past several nights he has been getting up once a night to eat and goes right back to sleep. Putting him on his stomach to sleep is probably saving our lives right now! He does like attention and is wanting to be held
a lot, mostly all the time. And usually he gets held because they way he screams and looks at me is so pathetic, I can't handle it!
Towards the end of church yesterday, he pooped all over everthing including Chuck. Since we were done, Chuck just changed his diaper and sent him home.
I think his thighs get bigger every day!

Future Firefighters

Cameron has a friend, Noah, who also loves firetrucks and firefighting. Noah has been hanging out with us one afternoon a week and the boys ALWAYS play firefighting. One day, they were trying to get the baby, yes the REAL baby, out of the burning building. For Noah's 5th birthday last month, they went to the firestation and the last time he came over to play, we set up a firefighting practice drill. Noah and Cameron get along great. When he is over, Cameron leaves me completely alone and for the most part, they allow Hannah to play with them.

Birthday Post #4

Happy Birthday to Me! For my birthday, we went to the Open House for the Gila River Valley Temple. Before a temple is dedicated, they allow the public to go in and tour. I thought this would be a good opportunity for the kids. The Gila River Valley is about 3 hours East of Phoenix. Christian was an angle on the way there, but C and H fought the whole time. However, with the exception of H's fit because she didn't want to wear the shoe covers (they want to keep the carpet clean), they were very well behaved at the temple. But back in the car, they were back to normal. I had wanted to go out to dinner, but because C missed a field trip to the movies during the day, Chuck took him and H to the movie instead and we went to dinner the next day. Chuck and I enjoyed some Ben & Jerry's Mint Chocolate Cookie ice cream after the kids went to bed.

this is what most of my day looks like, only not with the smile on my face!

It was really sunny and windy, so not ideal for taking pictures!

Happy Mother's Day to Me!

For my Mother's Day present, Chuck took C and H backpacking. This was a warm-up for C to get ready for the summer trip and a trial for H. They left Friday after lunch and came home Sunday just before bed time. Baby C was kind enough to take a long nap on Friday, so I got to nap too! But he didn't do that again. And he thought it was time to get up at 4am. With my time, I got a pedicure, ran some errands, cleaned house etc. My main goal was to scrapbook, but I didn't get too far because I didn't have enough pages and ran out of blue ink. Baby C is getting to be pretty demanding, so it wasn't a totally complete weekend, but as good as it gets for now!

got to love the outfit!

Birthday Post #3

Happy 5th Birthday Cameron!
C got a new bike for his birthday. His daddy took him to REI to pick it out. Okay, so he didn't really get to pick it out because this was the only single speed they had in his size. But he seems happy with it despite it not being red! Chuck has been teaching him how to ride. It is the most hilarious thing to watch. C is fearless with Chuck holding on, but there will be no letting go. I am so glad that my kids have a dad who is willing to teach them to ride a bike. I wouldn't have the patience nor would I be able to run as fast as I would have to. You're the best Chuck! And you're the cutest 5 year old Cameron!
