Montana

We packed up the car on July 19th and Chuck, Cameron and Tim drove to Montana for the summer backpacking trip as well as to get Cameron to college.  (School started the same day for Hannah and Christian, so the week long backpacking trip with everyone did not happen this year.). They drove to the middle of Wyoming and stayed the night before driving to Red Lodge, MT.  They stopped at a storage facility to store Cameron's things and then headed to the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, which Chuck says was truly amazing and beautiful.

Hannah and I flew to Billings Thursday and met up with Cameron, Chuck and Tim who had gotten there the day before.  We stayed at an air B&B not too far from campus.

We toured the very small campus which was very quiet because most of the kids were not there yet.

Hannah and I went running that afternoon and it was about 90 degrees.  We ran on the bluff that over looked Billings.  We had dinner that evening at a Mediterranean restaurant named Spitz's.  The food was unbelievable!

On Friday we drove to the Red Lodge area and did some hiking, which was beautiful.  We walked around Red Lodge and had lunch before returning back to Billings.

The kids and I worked out at the YMCA on Saturday while Chuck rode his bike.  Hannah and I went to the Yellowstone Art Museum, which essentially had nothing in it, went back to Spitz's for lunch and toured the Moss Mansion.  Later that afternoon, we went to the Billings temple.  And after that, I am pretty sure we had done everything Billings has to offer.

Hannah and I flew back Sunday morning. We were hoping to help Cameron get into his dorm room, but he could not move in until later in the day.  I was pretty annoyed about this but I guess that's what happens when you stay out of the planning.  Chuck and Tim had planned on leaving earlier to come home, so that thru a wrench in their plans.  But they stayed and helped Cameron move in and then drove to SLC.  They drove the rest of the way home on Monday.

We will miss Cameron but we are excited to see him move into the next stage of life.

Summer 2023

It was a short summer due to our school districts transitioning to modified year round and because Cameron and Hannah wanted to work/lifeguard, we didn't do much.  I took Hannah and Christian to Famington/Vallecito for a couple of days where they were able to spend time with cousins at the cabin, kayak, swim (in a cold lake) and hike.

We spent a day in Pine visiting Lily and Sylvan.

Christian swam for the Tempe YMCA.

We took a day trip to Tucson so we could go to the temple and eat at Beyond Bread.

And of course we had to go to Spinatos before Cameron left for college.
