January 2025

During our winter break, we went to the Tucson temple, the Phoenix temple (no picture) and the Mesa temple.  And Cameron came home for a visit just after Christmas.

On the 13th, we celebrated Christian's 15th birthday!  Per his usual request, we had mint chocolate chip ice cream cake. For family dinner we have BBQ ribs and for dinner out, we went to the Mongolian BBQ, also per usual.
He decided not to have a birthday party with friends because he had plans to take a few friends to see the Blue Angels perform in California in March.

At 15, Christian is 5'5 and weighs 116 lbs.  He is growing but is still waiting on more of a growth spurt. As Christian enters deeper into the teenage years, he can get a little grumpy, but overall he remains a great kid.  He is smart, creative, handsome, dedicated, and fun.  He is a good example in his speech and behavior.  Christian loves to be on his phone, play video games and watch TV.  He still loves to buy and play with Legos and every night before bed he can be found reading a book.  He is now reading the Ranger's Apprentice series after having finished the Eragon series.  He played Freshman tennis in the Fall and will be playing tennis this Spring as well.  He has taken up mountain biking and goes to ride at South Mountain with his friend Josh fairly regularly.  He has made great friends, in part through seminary, and is often invited to birthday parties and hang outs.   Christian still loves to sleep late into the morning and has even began taking naps.  Naps are in part due to getting up at 5:35am in order to get to steel drum band by 6:20. There is complaining but no desire to quit the band.

We love Christian and are so glad he is part of our family!

Christmas 2024

We had a pretty quiet and simple Christmas this year.  We had Christmas dinner and a gift exchange with Camera, Emily and their kids.  Cameron stayed in Billings to work at the airport but he was not left alone.  He spent Christmas with Garrett's, his roommate, family.  While Cameron  was home during Thanksgiving, Chuck and the kids went to JC Penney's to take pictures as one of my Christmas gifts.  l love them all!

It is always fun to give and receive gifts, spend time with family and eat good food, but the best part of Christmas is being able to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  We are so thankfully for and to him.  And we are thankful for the many blessings that come into our lives as we strive to put Christ at the center.

Fall

For Fall Break this year, we went to Billings to spent time with Cameron and watch the Rocky Mountain College Football team play.  We went to the Billings temple, watched a game, went to Scheels. and went for a hike (not the most beautiful hike)

We also went to Pine for Youth Conference.  Chuck and I were asked to work in the kitchen.  Chuck came up a day late with Hannah because her XC team was qualifying for state! I enjoyed working in the kitchen but there were too many workers, so I didn't feel very needed.  And although we slept in a cabin, it was not that best night's sleep and I was ready to get back to my bed.  Christian had a great time and Hannah tolerated it.  There were some really fun activities for the kids and the weather was beautiful.  Hannah and I went for a hike and saw a bear cross the path just in front of us.  I didn't have time to get my camera out and in fact, I didn't really take any pictures at all, other than the one below.

As Fall progressed, Cameron came home for Thanksgiving and we all ran the Turkey Trot.  Chuck, Hannah and I ran the 10K and Hannah placed 2nd in her age group.  Cameron and Christian ran the 5K.

And Lily, Billy, Sylvan and Leon came over for a visit.
