School and Extra-Curriculars

Cameron was selected to participate in the District Honor Band
and he made the middle school baseball team.
He had to do a report and project on World War I for Social Studies so he chose to research the role animals played in the war.
And he made a fox puppet.
Hannah participated in the Cavalcade of Music for the second year.
She chose to research Marie Curie for her wax museum project.
And she received the Citizenship Award and made the Honor Roll.
Christian had several big projects.  One was to research and inventor. He chose Louis Braille.

The PACE curriculum this year was art focused.  One project was a junk robot.  The name of his robot was Mr. Long Nose and his super power was he could shoot nails out of his nose at bad people.

Another project was to create a diorama of an animal habitat of an animal of his choosing.  He chose the Mountain Lion.
His class also did an extensive study of Charlotte's Web.

We are Spartan!

The kids competed in their second annual Spartan Race in February.  Cameron completed the 2 mile kids race and Hannah and Christian the 1 mile kids race.  Our neighbor, Jackson, also joined us.  It was hard trying to take pictures of 4 kids competing. I missed the start of the 1 mile because Cameron was finishing up his race. And I not sure what happened, but I completely missed Christian's finish.  I thought he was further back than he was.  So, after H finished I went back up the course but somehow missed him. Christian was upset about something after the race, so he made a finisher's photo a bust.  This was not an easy race.  I'm so proud of the kids and hope to instill a love for physical activity in them.

Happy 13th Birthday Cameron!

Cameron got the best present for his birthday, six days of no school due to a teacher's strike.  All he wanted for his birthday was to spend time with his friend Carson.  So we picked Carson up, had lunch at Spinato's and the boys played the rest of the day.  He had baseball practice the evening of his birthday and a game the following night, so we had ice cream cake a couple days later.

I'm not too worried about Cameron's attitude as a teenager. He's always had a sour attitude.  I feel like I could copy and paste Cameron's birthday post from last year.  He still hates school, hates quiet time and hates to work.  He loves to watch TV but a slight change from last year is he is playing with his PlayStation more.  Another change in the last year is that he doesn't want to play tackle football this year.  But he is talking about playing more baseball.  He feels like he has more potential with baseball than football.  He is a very talented boy with great potential.  And we love to see him develop his talents.
