Christmas 2019

Christmas was simple and quiet this year.  We continued our tradition of decorating "Gingerbread Houses" with the Hamblins and Hatches.  We had dinner Christmas Eve at the neighborhood potluck.  We had a quiet morning Christmas day with just our family and some rain. The last time it rained on Christmas Day was 2009.  And against his better judgement, Santa paid the kids a visit.

Christian - Fall '19

Christian achieved the rank of Bear in Cub Scouts this fall (not sure why I don't have a picture).  It looks like that is as far as he will get in scouting.  The LDS church is no longer a charter organization for Scouts and he said he doesn't want to join another pack.  He played Fall Little League in preparation for Spring.  He played catcher and was the only player other than the pitcher who got to touch the ball during play.  The games were basically watching a really bad game of catch with the pitcher and catcher.  We were really hoping that Fall ball would help prepare him for Spring where it is kid pitch but it left a lot to be desired.  Nonetheless, he had a good time.  Christian continues to excel at the piano.  I love that Christian is so well-rounded.  He will excel at whatever path he chooses in life.

Hannah - Fall '19

Hannah started 7th grade this Fall and made the JV volleyball team again this year.  Her serves got consistently better throughout the season and she started to be more aggressive.  She continues to excel at the piano.  She plays percussion in the school band and has also picked up the flute, mostly teaching herself.  Although she is not taking art in school this year, she is always drawing and painting at home, teaching herself.  She also loves to read.  She got to meet her favorite author, Chris Colfer.  Hannah is quite talented. She is also quite beautiful.  She is also quite motivated and driven. She got all A's on her report card with the exception of a B in math.  Although she claims to hate math, she still always tries her best. She works hard at all she does and that is what is going to take her far in life.

Cameron - Fall '19

Cameron started his Freshman year of high school this Fall.  He still doesn't love school, but he didn't complain too much about it.  He also didn't spend too much time studying either.  But he ended the semester with all A's and a B in Honors Math.  He played center and long snapper on the Freshman Football team. His goal is to get a scholarship to a Division 1 school as the long snapper.  (I told him he should focus on his grades.)  He received the Padre award.  It was the only award given at the football banquet.  It went to the player who worked hard, was dedicated and always eligible.  Cameron definitely deserved it and I am happy he was recognized.  He picked up the french horn and has been playing that in concert band.  Although Cameron does not like school, I admire his willingness to be a good student and do what he knows he should be doing. Cameron umpired for Tempe South Little League fall season.  He loves to umpire (and make money).  He got many compliments throughout the season. He has good control of the game and is very confident in his calls.  I love to see Cameron get passionate about something and put his whole heart into it.  That will take him far in life.
