Mother's Day

The kids made me sweet cards for Mother's Day.

I was able to scan Hannah's.

Christian's was a book titled "All About Mom" complete with drawings.
It said:
My mom is special because she "is part of my life.  I love her!!!!!!!!!!"
My favorite thing about my mom is "that she love me and makes me stuff for my brthday."
My mom makes the best "hugs and kisis.  She made me thing (think) about how much I love her."
My mom is beautiful because she "looks like me and that y I thenk she is beautiful."
My mom "is a grat yoga teacher and groop (group) chore (core)."
The funniest thing about my mom is "she tickles me."
I would give me mom "hugs and kisses."

Cameron's said I was "so acute" and that he loved me.  He also gave me Junior Mints and York Peppermint Patties.

I like to ride my bicycle - the 2016 season

C's races
Picacho Pk TT
McDowell Mountain Circuit Race
San Tan Crit
S. Mtn. Circuit Race
Tucson Bike Classic
S. Mtn. TT

Chuck also raced the same races, with the exception of the S. Mtn. TT, but I seem to have no pictures of him.  I guess that happens when I am working or dealing with kids while he is racing.

Happy 11th Birthday Cameron!

Cameron's birthday started on Sunday night May 1st with family dinner.  We had green chili enchilada casserole (the recipe with corn bread).  Charity, Emily, Ricky, Raygan and Rylee joined us. On Monday, the 2nd and his actual birthday, he went to "bagels" and had a candle in his bagel.  Then I let him play hooky from school.  I was teaching a cycling class, so he went to that with me.  I asked how he liked it and he said, "It was okay."  After we were cleaned up, we went to lunch at Zupas and then to the mall. He bought a Lego set at the Lego Store, a video game (courtesy of Emily and Ricky) at Game Stop and a Calvin and Hobbes book at the book store.  He watched a movie while I went to the grocery store and also got to play his new video game.  The culminating event was a party with friends the following Saturday.  The boys played football at the park AND in the front yard and dodgeball in the backyard.  We had pizza from Spinatos but I could barely get the boys to stop playing long enough to eat.  I managed to get them to eat cake before parents started to arrive to pick them up.  But we didn't get to the opening of presents.  After things settled down, he opened them. He got Lego sets, football cards and lots of money!  Overall I would say he had a very good birthday and he is a super spoiled boy.

At age 11, Cameron has become quite independent.  He gets himself totally ready for school without much prompting or reminding.  And he often leaves before everyone else because he wants to get to school to play.  He has been really happy with the new school this year.  The only thing he complains about is reading buddies. (The 5th graders read to the Kinders).  Cameron has acquired a love for all things football.  He played a couple sessions of flag football and is constantly begging me to let him play tackle.  Not going to happen!  He is often out in the front yard or down the street playing football with the neighborhood boys.  He collects football cards and loves to play Madden on the Playstation.  He can be very helpful, mostly when money is involved.  Occasionally I will ask him to babysit Christian and Christian always says he was an awesome babysitter.  He mows a friend's lawn weekly.  And even though money is not involved, he has become better about doing his chores with little complaining.  He does not practice his flute without being asked and without a lot of complaining.  He excels in math but still struggles with spelling.  When he did have homework, he'd come home and get it done right after school so he wouldn't have to think about it the rest of the day. Cameron is very clever and witty.  One of my favorite things about him is his sense of humor.  We love Cameron so much and hope he has an amazing year!  At age 11, Cameron weighs 77 lbs and is 4 ft 10 inches tall.

Scouts

Cameron has earned his Webelos Badge and Arrow of Light Award.
Now it's on to 11 year-old scouts.

Hannah went to Girl Scout Encampment and had a great time.

And she bridged from Brownies to Juniors.
