Racing With Chuck

Chuck's racing season has started. Here are some pictures from the Valley of the Sun Stage Race. The first is from the time trial and the second from the criterium (crit). This race also includes a road race. Bicycling is not much of a spectator sport (especially when you have children) with the exception of the crits. In a weeks time, Chuck did 3 crits, all of I got to watch. I probably haven't made it to that many races in a season since we had Cameron. It's always fun to be there to support him and at the end of the race, it's always the same story..."I tried to bridge the gap, but no one wanted to work" (unless, of course, he's in the break).

Catching Up With Christian

Wow! I can't believe Christian is already 6+ weeks. I had intended to do a post when he was a month, but did not get to it. What is there to say about a 6 week old baby? Actually, the pictures say it all! He is growing too fast! He is gorgeous! He sleeps a lot! And his brother really loves him! What the pictures don't tell: He is nursing well, but is starting to slack on the right side (as did the other two). I love this age when their arms and legs move without meaning or direction. And I love when they stretch, arching their back and sticking their little butts out.
He looks so much like Cameron did in this picture.

As you can tell, he doesn't always like the attention.

He is so precious!

Sleeping Beauty

Hannah stopped taking naps a couple of months ago. She actually didn't stop taking them, but we stopped making her take them. It was taking too long to get her down for her nap and bedtime was getting too late for our liking, so we did away with them. But she really still needs a little one. She often falls asleep here and there...

this is obviously the car... and no, it is not night time,
her PJ's are what she wanted to wear that afternoon

this was while watching TV

this was while playing on my Ipod...this is my favorite!

And speaking of sleeping, H went to a regular bed last night. I bought a twin bed with a trundle a couple of weeks ago and it was delivered yesterday. So, last night she wanted to sleep in it. I was going to give her 3 chances and if she came out of her room more than that she was going to go back to the crib. After the 2nd time, I told her if she came out again, she was going to her crib. And she did come out, but did not show her face to me. She stood in the hallway for a while. We ignored her and she went back to her room and went to sleep with the door open. She did get up once during the night and I just put her back in bed and that was it. Now, I need to get her some cute sheets and bedspread!

And yet another thing to NOT go our way...

Okay, so I know that our trials in life are trivial compared to those of others. And for that I am so thankful! But come on, can we really not catch a break? We took baby C to the pediatric urologist to have him look at his hypospadias (displacement of the urethra). The urologist said it looked normal to him. Great! So, let's finish the circumcision and be on our way. Oh no...nothing could be that easy. Since baby C was (at the time) a month old and weighed 10 pounds, he was now too big and too old? to finish the circumcision in the office and now it has to be done out patient surgery when he is at least 6 months and will require anesthesia. Not to mention cost hundreds of more dollars. Apparently, he will bleed more being bigger, but I'm not sure what that has to do with having to do it in the hospital. My mom consulted with some of her co-workers who thought it was ridiculous that we were being told he was too old and too big to finish the circumcision in the office. So, I talked to my pediatrician (knowing she wouldn't do it because in the medical world, they are all in bed together) who said generally they like to do the circumcision in the office in the first couple of weeks because they get too big for the instrument they use. Okay, but babies are born at 10+ pounds??? She did suggest calling a pediatric surgeon to see if they would be comfortable doing it in the office. So, I called them and the answer was of course the same as the urologists. I have a hard time trusting doctors to begin with, so who do I believe? One thing that has kept me from pursing this any further is the fact that the urologist also said that baby C has a hydrocele (fluid in the scrotum) which if does not correct itself has to be surgically corrected. So, that will be done at the same time of the circumcision. But it could also correct itself by then. I'm just having a hard time believing that he is too big and too old to finish the circumcision without general anesthesia. If you know anything about this, please let me know!

A Sonic Day

So, my day literally started at 12am with Christian stirring. He usually eats around 1am, but he seemed ready. However, he was not. He nursed a little and went to sleep. I put him back in bed only to have him stir more. I tried to settle him and finally asked Chuck to get up with him and told him if he didn't settle down, I would try to feed him again. In the meantime, Cameron got me up to cover him back up and Hannah got me up because she needed water. Anyway, Chuck took baby C. I could still hear him after a while, so I got up and found Chuck attempting to sleep on the couch with him (I'm somewhat disapproving of this). By now, it is 1am. Chuck goes to bed and I go to feed baby C. I smell that his diaper is dirty and as I'm changing him, he pees all over his nightgown. I get him fed and back in bed. It is now 2am. He wakes again at 4am. I get him fed and back in bed and I go back to bed for 1/2 hour. I get up to teach a 5:30am class. The kids get home from bagels with Chuck, I feed baby C and rush them out the door to teach my 8:15am yoga class. We come home for a bit, the kids are bratty and then we go to the park. H throws a huge fit on the way home. We rush lunch so we can get to our dentist appt. As we go to leave, baby C, who shouldn't be hungry, is throwing a fit and our garage door won't open. I try to get ahold of Chuck and in the meantime, my phone is going crazy, ringing and ringing with no one there. Finally, I get ahold of him and he tells me what to do with the garage door, but I can't do it alone. I say we just aren't going to be able to go and C, who said he doesn't want to go to the dentist anyway, starts to cry. I call the dentist and they say they can get me in an hour later. I feed screaming baby C and go get my neighbor to help with the door. Luckily, we know most of our neighbors and the one right next door is retired. We get the door open as Hannah is pant and pantie less. As I strap baby C in, he fills his pants and spits up. We make it to the dentist and the kids were great! C required some prompting to get into the chair. Hannah went first to show him how to do it and he finally obliged. On the way home, we stopped at SONIC! We had some time for the kids to watch TV and get the house cleaned up before Chuck got home and the in-laws came over. After dinner, I fed baby C and rushed off to teach a 6:30pm class. And here I am. C and H are in bed. The house is fairly picked up and I just need baby C to eat one last time before we start all over again.

Happiness Is...

Sucking your thumb (when you can find it)
Dancing in Your Underwear
Cameron and Hannah love to dance. But it has to be in their underwear, why I don't know. They also like to dance to primary (church) music. This is far from dancing music. It is the funniest thing to watch them dance. Some of their moves include: the arm swing, the choir director, the frog, the tire run, the booty shake, the elephant, the wild woman, and the pirate.
