Happy 14th Birthday Hannah!

Hannah turned 14 on the 30th of May.  Chuck turned 57.  But as usual, this post will focus on Hannah.  Not that we don't love Chuck, but 14 is more exciting that 57.

For her birthday, we had lunch as a family at Spinato's. We stopped at AJ's on the way home and grabbed a few individual desserts.  We had family dinner on Sunday.  She requested hummus with pita bread, chicken and veggies.  We had Devil's food cake and ice cream for dessert.

For her gift, she wanted her accent wall and the hall bathroom to be painted.  So, over the next couple of  weekends, Chuck painted those.  For a "party", she got to take a friend (she chose Layla) to Burst of Butterflies for a ceramics class.  She also got to take a friend to SunSplash (she chose Marley).

Overall, I would say all her wishes came true.

Cameron got to take Carson to SunSplash because his birthday was also in May.  But Christian didn't get to take anyone because Hannah and Cameron did not get to take friends when we mini-golfed for Christian's birthday.  It is all about fairness around our house.

Hannah is so talented and motivated!  She continues to be in her room much of the time painting.  She babysits a lot and does anything else asked of her to earn money including picking up the neighbor's dogs' poop.  She is hard working and is always willing to help when asked.  She continues to excel at piano.  She played in church on her birthday and even though she wasn't happy with her performance and swore she'd never do it again, she played prelude a couple of weeks later.  She gets extremely annoyed with her brothers (and rightly so) but she can often be found adding fuel to the fire.  At 14, she is 5'2.25" and weighs 117 lbs.  We are looking forward to seeing what her 14th year will bring.
We love our princess!

Farewell 5th and 8th Grade

We were so excited and relieved that the kids got to finish the school year in person and enjoy many of the year end actives.

Christian was awarded the Outstanding Math Student Award and said Farewell to 5th grade as well as Fuller Elementary School.  Christian had so many amazing teachers at Fuller but his PACE (gifted teachers) were absolutely outstanding and we will miss them so much.  Despite all the challenges, Christian really thrived this year and we are so proud of him!

Last day of school - Christian rode his bike to and from school everyday with the exception of one when I picked him up early to go hang out with cousins.

Hannah received the Female Outstanding Student Award and "graduated" with Honors from Fees College Prep.  Hannah also thrived during the school year.  She was so diligent in her studies, especially Geometry where she made a person goal to get an A.  We are so proud of Hannah.  She didn't just survive the year, but she embraced it and really worked on developing her talents.
