June 2025

Hannah and I flew to Billings to run the Montana half marathon.  We stayed with Cameron and didn't really do much other than run the 1/2.  And we both wished we hadn't done that.  It was terrible.  It was so hot!  We took a bus out to the start, which was a late start, making it hotter.  The race started in the outskirts of Billings, which was nice.  The first few miles were downhill and the first mile especially fast.  After about 3-4 miles, we turned into Billings and ran the rest of the race in the neighborhoods, running on uneven sidewalks and streets.  Because it was hot, I was worried about Hannah.  After about 5 miles, I saw her running back toward me.  She said she did not feel well and neither did I, so we ran/walked the rest of the race.  We weren't alone.  Everyone, even the pacers, were much slower than they had planned to be. I am not sure why we struggled so bad.  We should have done fine in the heat.  I have never felt so bad in a race or even a training run.  We definitely will not be running that race again.

Christian attended FSY (For Strength of Youth) at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ and he loved it!

May 2025

 May was a busy month!

Cameron finished his Sophomore year with a broken foot.  Because he could not work at the aiport until it healed, he was able to come home for about a week and we were able to celebrate his 20th birthday.  He went back to Billings and painted dorms for the month of May.

Hannah and Camera raced in the Mom's Sprint Triathlon.  Hannah did not have the best race of her life but still had a great time (meaning actual time).

Hannah graduated from seminary.  Hannah had release time seminary her Freshman and Sophomore year at Marcos de Niza.  Her instructors were very nice ladies her Freshman year, but probably not the best people for the job.  Because the program, which was a stake ran program, was struggling, CES brought in a student teacher her Sophomore year.  He lasted a quarter.  So they bought in another student teacher.  She lasted a quarter.  So during the winter break, Deborah Bigham and I were asked to teach.  We both went each day, alternating each week who was teaching.  We had 8 students, 2 of whom wanted to be there, one of which was Hannah.   But we taught great lessons, loved the kids and persevered.  Being in a class with almost no one who wanted to be there was also hard for Hannah but she persevered also.  After that year, Hannah decided to go to Corona del Sol high school and Deborah and I recommend the seminary program at Marcos be laid to rest.  Deborah and I then began teaching at the Corona seminary.  We were two of five instructors.  We had two morning classes, which we all taught one day a week and one release time class, which we taught one day a week and were the second adult in class the second day. (Yes, it's a little confusing but it worked). All the instructors were great teachers.  Hannah was in the release time class her Junior year and with the exception of a few, all the kids were attentive, respectful and happy to be there.  Her senior year, because of schedule challenges, she was unable to attend release time and therefore took early morning.  It was a little hard for her to get up, but more than that, the energy in class was much different than the release time class.  Very few were excited to be there and participation was basically non-existent.  So she would usually go 3x a week and do a make up lesson on her own.  Most kids have no personal study.  But Hannah was so diligent about studying her scriptures.  She would highlight, make notes, draw pictures.  She is one of the most impressive kids I have seen.  She was asked to speak at graduation and gave an amazing talk.  She truly deserved to graduate from seminary!

Hannah graduated from high school. It's not hard to graduated from high school and most people do it. But Hannah worked SO hard in high school.  She put 100% into everything she did. And that is why we are so proud of her.

last day of high school

Hannah and Chuck celebrated birthdays (18 and 61)!

Hannah's gift to Chuck

At 18, I can't tell you how much Hannah weighs or how tall she is because she wouldn't go for her 18 year well check.  But those things haven't changed much in the last year.  During her 18th year, Hannah worked hard in school, which paid off when she qualified for the Lumberjack scholarship and got a 5 on her AP Human Geography test.  Because she spent a lot of time studying, she didn't have as much time for her hobbies but when she did have down time, you could find her painting (while watching Gilmore Girls), practicing her piano and working out.  She would often multi-task, walking while studying or talking to Aunt Charity on the phone. Hannah is a joy to have around.  She is fun and helpful.  She is the perfect teenage girl and we could not ask for more.  We love her so much!
