Disneyland
When my grandmother died, she left us some money and I decided I would use it to take the kids to Disneyland. Chuck said he wasn't going so I was planning on taking the kids by myself. But when I was talking to my friend Melissa about it she said she would go with us and make all the arrangements. We decided that Fall break would be a good time to go and she immediately started making reservations/arrangements. We planned to drive to Anaheim on Wednesday, go to Disney Thursday and Friday and drive home on Saturday. Then we got the football schedule which had a game scheduled on Wednesday night of Fall break. Cameron felt like he had to play in the game but wanted to go to Disney too but I didn't want to change our plans. So Cameron and I made an agreement that if he would pay for half the plane ticket, I would fly him to Orange County Thursday morning. I didn't want to drive to pick him up, so I made arrangements for him to take a shuttle to the Disney hotel. Melissa, the kids and I drove to Anaheim Wednesday as originally planned. When we got there, we walked to Downtown Disney, shopped and had dinner. The next morning we got up and got to the park before it opened. We rode Indian Jones and Pirates of the Caribbean before there was too long of a line. Cameron arrived safely with no hiccups other than not realizing he had to pass through a security check point to get where we wanted him to meet us, (he thought he needed a ticket) so we just went to where he was. We bought the park hopper pass that allowed us to be between Disney and California Adventures. We bought a fast pass, used the app to look for the shortest lines and rode as single riders therefore minimizing our time standing in line. For the most part, we didn't have to wait in any one line for too long. The kids were well behaved and the rides were fun. So as far as Disney goes, we had a great trip. But I'm okay to never go again. There were SO many people, many of them with strollers and scooters! The money spent and time spent in line (although it was minimal) was not worth it for me. But the kids had a good time and will hopefully remember the trip.

Salt Lake City and the road to and from...
My nephew, Kellen, got married on the 21st of July in Bountiful, UT so we decided to take a road trip. We left Thursday after lunch and drove to Page, AZ. We visited Horseshoe Bend, had dinner and swam at the hotel. Friday morning we took a tour of the Glen Canyon Dam and finished the drive to SLC. We got to SLC with just enough time to change clothes before the rehearsal dinner. Miraculously all 7 siblings were accounted for but a couple grandchildren were missing. After getting the kids in bed, Chuck and I went for a late night run.
We went to the sealing at the Bountiful Temple on Saturday. We left right after the sealing (this really made my mom mad) and met two of my college roommates (Tiffany and Heidi) for lunch. We could have talked all day but we did need/want to do some sightseeing. So we headed to Temple Square. We did all the usual things, visitor centers, Tabernacle, museums, etc., but unfortunately the Conference Center was closed. We finished up our sightseeing just in time for the ring ceremony and reception. Because there were so many of us and most everyone went to Temple Square the day before we got there, we didn't get to spend a lot of time with cousins (this really made Hannah mad).
We left Sunday morning making a short stop in Provo to drive around the BYU campus (which is SO different from the ASU campus). We stopped in Page to do a short hike, despite the 100+ degree heat. After hiking to the hanging gardens, we "bushwhacked" our way towards Lake Powell where we found a path down to the water. The kids were prepared and had their swim suits on. So they were able to swim and even jump off some rocks. That was probably the highlight of the trip! We got home pretty late, but stopping along the way definitely made the drive more interesting and we got to explore a little of our Arizona.

Summer Backpacking 2019
I am hoping sooner or later I can get Chuck to write a blog post about the summer trip. But for now, this will have to do. The original plan was to go to the Hoover Wilderness Area in the Toiyabe National Forest in California but they couldn't go because much of the trail was still covered in snow. So they went to the Weminuche Wilderness in SW Colorado. They hiked the Pine River Trail to the Emerald Lake Trail. Chuck said it was perfect. Only the boys went with Archer Williams and Derek Hatch. Hannah claimed she didn't want to miss another week of synchronized swimming and wanted to spend time with me. But when the plans changed and those plans took them through Farmington, she decided she to go spend the week with the Palmers. (This was the first time ever Chuck forgot to take a boot shot before the hike began.)
