Here is what I would consider to be C's first actual drawing. Everything up until now has looked like scribbles with maybe a circle here and there. And to the untrained eye, this may look like scribbles too. But to the trained eye (aka mom's eye), you can clearly see the head with hair, eyes, 2 legs and 2 arms (coming out of the head). I was extremely impressed when he drew this.Friday, January 30, 2009

Okay, so I can't run a 4 hour marathon but...
I do have beautiful, adorable children!
4:06:15
Rock-n-Roll? No, not so much! Last weekend, I ran the Arizona Rock-n-Roll Marathon. I trained hard; long runs, tempo runs, speed work, short runs, yoga, weight training, cross training. My goal was 4:00:00 (or under) as well as just feeling good. I felt great during my training and I was ready! But did I accomplish my goals? Obviously not the first one...and no... not the second one either. My 10K time was 56:43, right on pace; my half marathon, 1:57:51, still right one pace with a little room; at 20 miles, 3:03:42, and there goes a 4:00:00 marathon. I don't know what went wrong... I was drinking, I was eating, I had prepared. I felt great up until about mile 16 and then it was as if someone pushed the off button. My body did not want to go. It wasn't muscle or joint pain. It wasn't mental. So, why did I fail? I just don't know and I will never find out because I am never doing another marathon! Oh, and by the way, the Phoenix Rock-n-Roll marathon is not all that!
I don't know how I managed to smile especially because I look like an idiot with my hydration belt, bib, shirt around my waste, etc.

Roswell, New Mexico
We went on a short "vacation" to Roswell, NM last week. My oldest brother, Cree, lives there with his wife Courtney and kids, Kellen (11), Cole (8) and Evie (5). Cole was getting baptized, so my mom, dad, and sister Camera were going to be there. Chuck had time of work, so we decided to go also. Once we decided to go, my younger brother also decided to go with his family. So, it was a little family reunion! It was a short trip and a long drive, but I'm really glad we went. The kids were great in the car, but I feel so guilty having to strap them down for so long. But, it was so fun for the cousins to get to play together. In addition to the baptism, we went bowling, to the zoo, to the park and of course to the UFO museum, which was very disappointing by the way. It's hard to get pictures of kids as you know, but here are a few. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera for the baptism, so you may have to check out Kami's and Jonathan's blog for those.

Happy New Year!
I usually have a bunch of resolutions each year, including the oh so popular lose weight and eat healthier. And yes, those make the list this year too AND I'm really going to do it! But if I don't...here are some other ones I'll be working on:
BE MORE PATIENT WITH MY KIDS (AND HUSBAND)
HAVE FAMILY HOME EVENING MORE REGULARLY
BRUSH THE KIDS TEETH MORNING AND NIGHT
HAVE PERSONAL DAILY SCRIPTURE STUDY
READ THE SUNDAY SCHOOL AND RELIEF SOCIETY LESSON EACH WEEK
BE MORE PREPARED WHEN I TEACH GROUP EXERCISE (HAVE THEMES, WORK THEM HARDER, NEW MUSIC AND COMBOS MORE OFTEN ETC.)
LIFT WEIGHTS MORE REGULARLY
I think that will do it for now!
Miss Hannah
Hannah is 19 months (as of the 30th of Dec.). She is beautiful, adventurous, and silly. She is not talking, but is very good at letting us know what she wants. She is very attached to her mom, literally. She does everything her brother does. She looks a lot like her dad and is smart like him too. She is obsessed with stickers as well as climbing on the kitchen table and sometimes standing on it. Here are some of her finer moments...

Christmas Day
We had a very small and relaxed Christmas Day. The kids got up early and we opened gifts and had breakfast. Santa brought C a Little People Bus, just like he asked for. H got a Radio Flyer tricycle, which was a hit. And even though C has two other bikes, he won't leave H's alone. The kids got a lot of other very fun things including puzzles, a Little People Barn, and books. H got a purse, a baby stroller, some clothes etc. C got some very cool firefighter boots and a Handy Manny tool man. Of course, there is not one thing that they will play with by themselves. We just played most of the morning and then went for a run. It started sprinkling just as we were leaving, then it rained pretty good the remainder of our run. The kids were in the stoller/trailor and got pretty wet. When we realized they were getting so wet, we put their rain jackets on. H just hates hers, so she screamed the rest of the way home. But other than that, it was perfect! I love to run in the rain. After we got dried off, we made dinner, ate and then went to Charity's and Kwan's for dessert. Then the day was done. Here are some pictures including the kids in their Christmas outfits and a picture when Lily and Emma came over to open gifts.
