Happy 6th Birthday Cameron!

Cameron is six! C was up bright and early on his b-day and unfortunately, had to go to school. Coincidentally, this week C is star of the week, which means, he gets to be line leader and his classmates make him a book. Included in his book are his favorites and he got to take some of those favorites to share.

favorite color: red, green and brown
favorite movie: Forces of Nature
favorite food: blueberry coffee cake
favorite toy: matchbox cars

C is also the snack provider this week, so for his b-day, we were able to take some sugar cookies to school (there is a girl in his class who is "allegedly" allergic to chocolate). I was able to go have lunch with C and for dinner we went to his favorite restaurant, Sweet Tomatoes. We were joined by Lily, Emma and Charity. Several of the employees sang Happy Birthday and they gave him a giant cookie in the shape of a six. C got a stuffed shark from little C and H, a red snake made by Lily and Emma, plush angry birds from Char and a scooter from mom and dad. All the gifts were big hits! The one gift C had asked for and did not get was a Nintedo DS. I'm not sure if and when he will get one of these. But for now, the answer is a definite no. C loves to watch TV and play on my ipod touch (one of his favorite games is angry birds). When watching TV and playing games, he completely zones out. And when it's time to turn it off, he throws a fit. So, until things change, no DS for him. At six years, C still rarely plays by himself. He loves for me to play with him or anyone else that will (except for his sister). So, we frequently have friends over. Some of his best friends are: Carson, Corbin and Derrek. For the better part of the year, C has been sleeping thru the night. Kindergarten has been a great help with bed time. He is usually so exhausted by 7pm, he is begging to go to bed. Each night he has numerous animals and other toys he has to have in bed with him. He changes frequently as to which one is his favorite. And has gotten away from having to have his favorite with him all the time. And before we are allowed to shut the door, he has to say: "Good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite. If they do, hit them with your shoe. Put a shoe by your bed just in case. Think about the old days and the new days. No bad dreams. Good night. I love you." He hasn't been as hard to get out the door for school lately or been complaining as much about it. But he still doesn't love it. He is learning so much though and it is so fun to hear all the new knowledge he comes home with. C still loves cars, trucks, firetrucks, construction trucks etc. He also loves natural disasters such as tornadoes, volcanoes, and tsunamis. He loves the show Rescue Heroes. C adores Christian. So much so, that I feel like Christian is being smothered all the time. I hope he will always adore Christian and they will grow up to be the best of friends. Cameron can be quite overwhelming. He knows what he wants and is willing to drive you crazy to get it. But he can also be very sweet and helpful. He is very affectionate and often spontaneously says I love you.

Here are just a few cute stories about our Cameron:

In primary, during singing time, Cameron was chosen to hunt for an Easter egg which contained the name of the next song they were going to sing. But because a friend of his really wanted to be the one to find the egg, Cameron let him take his turn.

Cameron wanted to buy a school lunch. I told him that would be fine, but I didn't really know how it worked and I would have to figure it out. He said: "They just want money mom. It doesn't matter how much. Just give me five dollars cash." Then H says, "Can I have five dollars cash too?"

Cameron recently wrote a letter in school to Lily. It went like this:

"Dear Lile

I hop you are having a god tim at school. I love you. Cameron."

He also adores Lily and Emma.

And we adore Cameron!

Father/Sons - Mother/Daughter

This weekend was the annual father/son camp out. The boys headed up North to Patrick's Pond near Heber. This was Christian's second time to go camping, but first without Mom. He had a hard time maneuvering around camp, but curled up in his sleeping bag and slept great.

While the boys had their father/son camp out. The girls did a little camp out of their own. H and I headed up to Camp Lomia (this is where are young women go to girls camp), located in Pine, to help get the cabins ready for the summer. Although there were cabins, we decided to pitch a tent. We did take advantage of the bathrooms with indoor plumbing. H sleeps great in a tent. I didn't hear from her all night! I slept okay. It was really cold, and I feel a little confined in a sleeping bag. But our bags did keep us warm. (The excursion would have been a little more fun if I wouldn't have had to carry H everywhere!)

Happy Easter!

As you can see, my attempt at a photo shoot was not very successful! The kids are so cute at this age, but capturing that on film is all but impossible for me.

Our lives are so crazy around here, we didn't even have time to color eggs. But the Easter Bunny did make it to our house with some legos for C, puzzles for H and cars for little C. And of course, candy, which little C could not get enough of!

H actually sang and did hand motions at the preschool Easter performance. That was the first time either of our kids participated.

The Dragons

Cameron is playing his second session of coach pitch baseball. The team is really doing quite well. They can hit and make plays, even tagging people out (even though there really are no outs). It is fun to watch them. Cameron hates wearing his hat. He says it makes him too hot. Not sure I understand that. It's probably just something to complain about.

Christian at 15 months

Christian (as you can see from the pictures) is absolutely adorable! He looks so much like Cameron when he was younger. Over the last couple of weeks, I feel like he has lost his baby look and is looking like a little boy. This is such a fun age. I love to see him: starting to understand, starting to follow directions, being able to let me know what he wants, making discoveries, etc. And the little baby/boy fits are too cute. But this is also a very hard age! He wants his independence but doesn't exactly go in the direction I would like him too. He is very active and therefore is ALL over the place. It is exhausting trying to keep up with him. He loves to be outside and loves balls! His favorite game is to throw the ball in the street. He also loves to play chase. He is sleeping well at night and for naps. He has two blankets he is attached to. One that Granny Annie made and is small, the other Grandma Kitty made and is really big. I didn't want him to get attached to that one because it is a lot of blanket to drag around, but since it was always in his bed with him, he'd become attached. He likes to eat, but hates to sit in his hairchair. He thinks it is so cute when he stands up in it. It drives me mad, but he is cute. When I am not chasing him around or giving him my undivided attention, he is fussing for my attention. That too reminds me of Cameron. It is very rare these days that he will entertain himself. But that aside, this kid is to die for!

A very rare occasion where I got him distracted while I took a shower and got ready for my day.

"Enjoy it while they are young...

it will be over before you know it." I hear this or something of the sort ALL the time. And they are words I really try to live by, but most of the time these days, I think I AM ready for it to be over! I go to bed exhausted every night! I go to bed with too many things that need done. And I rarely get to stay in my bed all night. I follow a couple blogs and by the content of them, you would think that being a stay at home mom is the most glamorous, beautiful, fulfilling profession in the world. And you'd believe they have perfect, and I mean perfect children. I just think, ''really?". I love my kids, I really do and I wouldn't change anything. Okay, well, I would change some things, but I wouldn't change my decision to stay at home with my kids. But lately, okay, for the past 6 years, I feel like I am going to lose my mind. Each one of my kids is so challenging and it is not getting any easier. I enjoy my kids one on one and do try to spend time with them individually. But sometimes it is torture to have them all together by myself. They fight, they are mean, they are rude, they are demanding, they are disobedient, they are never happy, nothing I do is right...just to name a few. Baby C turns 15 months tomorrow. I'll go into more detail later. And C and H have birthdays coming up soon, so I'll go into more detail then. But for now, I will attempt to inhale the positive and exhale the negative.
